These photographs were displayed at Fria Fotografers Filial at Kulturhuset in Stockholm in March 2018. The idea behind the selection of these photos was that many photographs are difficult to interpret without some additional information provided in a caption. As themes I chose two very well known images – those of Che Guevara and the USA’s flag. Pictures of Che Guevara based on the iconic photo by Korda can be found worldwide but I was most surprised to see one on a truck in Tehran. The picture of a woman wearing a Stars and Stripes dress and Cuban flag handbag also requires some context as it was taken in Havana the day before Barack Obama’s visit. The two themes are linked by a rather confusing message on a lorry in Kathmandu with both US flag and Che’s image.
